It is a reminder to show gratitude to family, friends, and the community and the people you love. In many countries, including the Philippines, people celebrate it in simple ways, such as holding a gathering, giving gifts, or doing something kind or somthing very kind. The essence of the day is not about value but about connection. Valentine’s Day has been criticized by some as being too commercialized. The advertisements of stores for flowers and chocolates encourage people to spend money instead of focusing on the feelings. The essence of the day, however, is simple: to show care and gratitude.
